NEW CODES OFFICER APPOINTEDMichael McQuade of Gouverneur has been appointed by the Town Board as the Code Officer for the Town of Hermon effective Monday, May 11, 2020, Mike has been Code Officer for the Town of Gouverneur and Village of Gouverneur since 2009. He has also been Acting Assessor of Gouverneur since 2012. We welcome Mike and his experience to the Town of Hermon!

BRIDGE PROJECTThe town has been approved for a $50,000 grant to improve the Main Street bridge. This is a reimburseable grant, meaning that the town pays for the project and then is reimbursed with
the grant funding. I am happy to let you know that Fiacco & Riley of Norwood, NY has been awarded the first phase of the bridge project. They will be replacing the deck of the bridge. We anticipate the work will begin in the Spring of 2020. lt is our goal to complete this improvement and disrupt traffic as little as possible. We appreciate your patience as we continue with this project.

ATV USAGE ON TOWN ROADSThe Town of Hermon's roads are not part of the St. Lawrence County Trail System and are not open to AWs. In 2009, the Town Board voted to permit ATVs to use town roads. Later, the State of New York passed a law that AWs were not permitted on highways. The NYS law takes precedent over the Town law.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN DONATING A GIFT TO THE TOWN OF HERMONThe Town has passed a resolution to accept gifts. The gift giver may be specific on how they would like their gift used. The gift is acknowledged in writing. Recently, we received a gift from James Morrill for our Historical Center. Lenore Zaunere, Town Historian, has put this gift to wonderful use.
